    Cutty Sark

The historic ship the "cutty sark" (where've you heard that before!!!!)
has been seriously damaged by fire, the ship houses artifacts connected to Robert Burns (who inspired the ships name) luckily the artifacts were not aboard the ship at the time (phew)

I saw that yesterday. A shame. Fortunate, though, that much of the original material had already been removed for restoration.

Yes there seems to be no shortage of money for restoring the Cutty Sark. The BBC Scottish News ran a feature on this last night comparing the fortunes of the Cutty Sark with her English built sister now langusihing in Scotland, The City of Adelaide. While its great to hear that the Cutty Sark, being a Scottish built ship will be restored, its a shame the money can't be found to also restore the City of Adelaide, another clipper from the same era, which is beached and gradually rotting away at the Scottish Maritime Museum at Irvine Harbour and faces scrapping. If the Cutty Sark can be restored then so also could the City of Adelaide which would cost a lot less money to rehabilitate.

Yes, these ships are so rare that more than one example should be saved.

Perhaps this can be taken up with the Scottish Parliament?
