I was just thinking about this today. My first two pleats like to flip up like that and I thought it was just the cheap kilts I have been getting. I just got my USAK from Rocky and it does the same thing. Guess there is not much I can do.

You can tune a bass drone, but you can't tuna fish.
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

I hate to intrude on a thread started by someone else, but I would love to get everyone's opinion on my pleat dilemma. I just received a USAK casual from Rocky and I am wondering if it is normal for my pleats to flip like they are doing. After wearing it around the house all day, they seamed to flip a little more than when I put it on. Here are some pictures to give you and idea.

Maybe I got the wrong size of kilt. I hope not because I really like this one. I would love to hear anyone's opinion on this.

It's a bit hard to tell, but it might be loose-fitting on your hips. The wrinkling of the pleats may be a result of not sweeping them properly whenever you're sitting down.

That could be it. I have a hard time with the sweep....

Well, for what it's worth, my Stillwater kilts have a little bit of that going on, and that is why I asked which kind of kilt it was.
The apron edge was the main flipper because that edge does not come with the flare like Barb is talking about. I re-pressed it with the long sweeping curve and it fixed that problem.
I have pinned up the edge of the flipper pleat with a slight flare toward the bottom as an experament. It does seem to help the problem, but I have no way of knowing if that puts the edge of the pleat off it's stripe. I will just live with the slight flip.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

All of my Stillwaters, both of my Burnett's and Struths casuals and my latest kilt from http://www.allscottish.ca/ have had this problem with the left edge of the apron and the reverse pleat at the right edge of the apron. Do like the rest of us and wear it until it tells you just where it wants these pleat edges to be, and then get out an iron and press the new pleat edge into existence. Voila- the well behaved kilt. Its really not a big problem.
I've kilt for less.

By the title of this thread, I thought you were really angry about pleats..."Flippin pleat!"

I'm tuning drones before a band competition. Jackson's just so tall that, as Robert says, I really needed a step stool! The guy behind me is holding an electronic tuner, and I'm watching the needle on the tuner while I'm adjusting the drones.
