Kilts at Delhi Commonwealth Games closing ceremony

Anyone catch this? Quite a sight, hundreds of kilted men and women charging the field behind a lone piper.

It was certainly impressive in numbers, but I would have personally preferred something a little more serious, kiltwise. They all looked like they were wearing Scottish halloween costumes, where the gist is right, but the whole thing still seems goofy.

I have just been watching the closing ceremonyof the Commonwealth Games I have never been as embarrassed !what idiot designed that supposed to be tartan it was a total mess the choreography was no better if that is the best that we can do I fear for the Glasgow Games I am so sorry that we could not have put on a better show !!

I rarely comment on tartans but I will make an exception here-----its B#@~*> awful!!!If that, the tartan and the whole Scots performance at the closing of the games, is the best Glasgow/Scotland can do, then I too fear for the future of the next games. I am ashamed.

Couldn't agree more! What were the pipers wearing ...pseudo tartan and bonnets Ugh!

They've should have gotten the piper with flame throwers on his drones from Britain's Got Talent or whatever the show was if they wanted to do something modern/artsy. Fire's always a winner.

Weren't the closing ceremonies organized by the current committee? I'm not sure that the Scots had anything to do with it.

From what I've seen online, it struck me as a bit "Bollywood does the Highlands."

I am sure you are correct there, although goodness only knows what the pipers and the 300 or so Scots extras thought about it.

Do you know it gets so tiring to have our country "assinated" by Bollywood, Pinewood or even Holywood. One day before I die, I really hope that the world will see Scotland as it really is and not just tartan, bagpipes and whisky, important though they are.

I thought the performance was very modern and quite contemporary.
Maybe they could not afford more pipers. LOL
Liked the Proclaimers song at the end.
