    RIP Royce Perry

Xmarks members in the Republic of Texas may or may not be aware of the passing of Royce Perry last week. Royce (who was Royce52 here) was the President of the Clan Gunn Society of North America and a very active member of the Texas Scottish community.

More information can be found on the Clan Gunn's web site:

    http://www.clangunn.us/

To say that Royce will be greatly missed is an understatement. His enthusiasm for all things Scottish was inspiring, and he was always willing for a "fight or frolic".

While he wasn't a frequent poster here, Steve and the forum staff have honoured his memory with a special "In Remembrance" banner on his profile.

Give to the departed eternal rest O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon him. +

    Vaya Con Dios Ancient Coyote,

    Todd

We certainly can relate here in Missouri; we lost someone like Royce back in 2007, and we are still recovering to a degree.

I never met Royce in person, but we talked several times on the phone and via e-mail. He was a good guy.

Its always sad to hear about someone like this passing away. It usually means that it will take two or three people to do the work that this one great person did. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

I went to Royce's funeral today. It was very moving with several testimonials to the influence Royce had on the Metroplex's Celtic community in general and the Scottish heritage community specifically. We ended with everyone singing Auld Lang Syne. Farewell my friend, you will be sorely missed, but it is for us to carry on your work.

I couldn't go the funeral, but I knew Royce. I will be among many to miss that kilted, noble man.
