What Whisky to Donate?
I will be donating a bottle of single malt scotch for the raffle at our upcoming Fredericksburg Scottish Society Burn’s Night. Want would you suggest to give that would appeal to a broad spectrum of whisky drinkers?

I've been giving Glenmorangie Lasanta (sherry cask); it's robust yet a little sweet, and likely to be of interest even to non-initiates. I'd get the Glenmorangie Sonnalta, which has even better reviews, but it's not for sale (PA has a state monopoly).

By the way, if you like whisky\whiskey and haven't been to this web site, it's a must!

You didn't specify a budget!

I concur, any Glenmorangie is always a great introduction to single malts!

My wife recently purchased for me a Robert Burns Single Malt Scotch made by Isle of Arran Distillers, while extremely light in color, I found it quite nice, and light flavour. It also won't break the bank to purchase. Another nice touch was it had a pic of the bard on it with a little blurb and small verse on the box.

I would've said Macallan 12, but it'll be easier to go along with the Glenmorangie. It is good.

I second, or third, the suggestion of a Glenmorangie specialty bottle to be your donation. Sonnalta, LaSanta, Astar, Quinta Ruban, Portwood or Burgundywood finished varieties are great tasting, quality single malts with unique and pleasant flavors, and a generally medium price range---not the least expensive single malts but also not an everyday sight on bar shelves and liquor cabinets in most places. Rare enough to tantilize the tastebuds of a scotch drinker who might want to move up a notch or two is quality and flavor. Some of my favorites.

Interesting comments on the Glenmorangies. Monday night our Scottish Society had a toast to our departed chief at the British Pub. I had a Scotch Sampler of three Glenmorangies; Original (10 YR), Lasanta & Quinta Ruban. I toped that off with the 18 YR. I enjoyed the Qunita Ruban best. Bu It agree the Lasanta may have a broader appeal.
Oban 14 YR is one of top favorites. You can wrong with the Mcallans!
Great website Whisky Connosr. Thanks for the link.
