Found a use for old p*nts!
Wearing the kilt more and more, I've been thinking of what to do with all those bifurcated garments in my wardrobe. Finally, I'm able to present a solution, at least for those people not used to wearing the kilt in highly traditional ways.
And the answer is...
... make sporrans out of them!
Here's my Sporran #1, "Black denim". It took me a whole of three hours one Sunday morning to plan it, draw the paper plans, cut out the fabric from one leg of old jeans, and sew it all together.
Here's the front view:
Back view. A belt or a sporran chain can be used with the loops.
The sporran opened:
Inside. The loop is for attaching things you use often...
... like keys, or a tuning fork.
I'll post pictures of the sporran worn asap.

Sheer Genius!
Next the rabble will mount a campaign to "Recycle Your Pants" into sporrans and pickpocket proof hideaway pockets.

I'm not quite sure what most people say about posting their layouts for sporrans. However could you possibly post the layout for this one?

I'll be glad to. But first I have to find the papers and load the camera battery.

Well, the originals seem to have been mislaid, so I drew a quick new version. This isn't a by-the-hand instructions like AlanH´s magnificent X-kilt how-to, so you'll have to think a bit for yourself or ask me. I left out the exact lenghts, so you'll be able to / have to customize the sporran to your liking.
When I make another one, I can take pics from the process and make an easier-to-follow set of instructions. But that'll be after I finish the pin-stripe kilt I began on Saturday
