Working on a sgian dubh
I bought the sgian dubh blade from the atlanta cutlery and I have the handle on now, just need to stain it (I have a reason for going out of order)

the handle is made from one of my dad's sledge hammers, after 30 years or so it finally cracked, but it's hickory. the 'pommel' is a nut screwed down and epoxied on then ground down, I'm going to try to get it tack welded on soon, then I'll grind it down again. after that I'll stain the handle but wanted to wait in case I need to resand the wood. I haven't tried putting handles on blades in a few years, so this was a good warm up. this helped fill some spare time this last week. Sharpening the blade will take forever, but apples beware when that day comes!

What a fantastic use for an old family piece that finally 'gave up the ghost'!
I have a lot of tools from my grandfather and great grandfather (planes, calipers and such). I'd certainly consider a wonderful re-use like this.
Keep us posted on developments.
