Plant Badge
Ok, this may sound stupid, but I have some questions about plant badges.
The MacGregor plant badge is pine and I'm wondering how to wear it. I know generally that I stick a sprig of it up in my balmoral behind (I guess) the Clan Crest. Is that all there is to it?
Another really stupid question....pine (and any other plant) dries out quickly. Can you / Do you use fake plants? I don't want to look like a shedding Christmas tree.
Thanks!!
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

I don't see why you couldn't use a synthetic sprig. If anyone knows where to get some synthetic cottongrass, let me know.

Jim,
If you are worried about the sprig drying out (and if there is room behind your cap badge) you could do what I do when I wear a boutonniere. Make a very clean cut at an angle along the base of the twig and set it in a small amount of water even better cut with sharp scissors at an angle under water). Cut a small piece of aluminum foil and a smaller square out of a paper towel. Moisten the piece of paper towel. Remove the spring from the water and wrap the end with it with the moist piece of paper towel. Then put the end on the middele of your square of the foil. Fold all the edges up and mold the foil to be as compact as you can without bruising the plant. The moisture of the towel should keep the sprig fresh and the foil will keep the moist paper towel from drying out and prevent the moisture from staining your hat.
Cheers

I appreciate the help. I'm going to go to that link and see what it says.
Yeah, real pine would smell the best I'm sure
I don't have any pine trees, so that's why the quetion about the fake plants. That plus the thing drying out, and quite honestly, the resin that might get on my cap.

Hey, at least I could get Rosmary in the herb section of the store and i wouldn't have to steal it off my neighbor's tree. Of course that could be called border raiding I suppose and therefore acceptable.
