    Royal Navy Tartans

I have been asked by an ex naval friend if there are any British Royal Naval Tartans available. As of yet I havent come up with anything. Would really appreciate if any one on Xmarks can help out. Thanks in anticipation.

There is a Royal Naval Association Tartan, I have one in 16oz wool woven by DC Daglish. Here is my review of it

Here are a couple of pictures

Here is the news article from the Navy News

Here are the details from the new Scottish Register of Tartans
    http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar....aspx?ref=3604

I hope this helps, by the way, I've only heard of one other person who has had the Royal Naval Association tartan woven up and made into a kilt.

I may be mistaken but I believe that the Submarine base at Holy Loch was/ is used by both US and UK forces and has a dedicated tartan named Polaris after the style of missile carried in that era.

Another option would be the US Navy Edzel which he could wear in the spirit of camaraderie on the high seas in the same vein in which so many in the states wear Black Watch, Gordon, etc. in solidarity with the Highland regiments.
