    Repro 18th C. Scottish Knife

Check out the second knife down on this page:

    http://www.olddominionforge.com/knives.html

Precursor to the sgian dubh is this Scottish "utility" knife. Such knives were used for dressing game and other mundane chores. Or, perhaps an armpit dagger?

The price seems steep, but is not out-of-line for a custom-made piece!

It's based on an original knife, seen far right in this image:

ODF makes wonderful reproductions of historic weapons. I have had occasion to speak with Kyle Willyard of ODF and he is a gentleman through and through. I am particularly fond of his Revolutionary sword. You could not go wrong with that knife.

    I'll third that!

Looking a little further down the page, I found a French trade knife with beaded sheath and effigy carved handle that reminded me of the bear knife carried my Magua in The Last of the Mohicans. Some really sweet blades there.
