    Another Wildcat Tartan update

We've chosen a weaver, and it's DC Dalgliesh.

I was going to PM people here on XMTS who had not joined the Facebook group when more information became available, but that was so long ago, now, that all your messages are buried in my in-box. I might even have deleted a few. If you're NOT on the Facebook group....NOT IN THE FACEBOOK GROUP... and you'd like more information, you can PM me.

OK, let's keep public responses to this thread to the absolute minimum. Again, if you're not in the Facebook group and you want more information, PM me. If you're in the Facebook group, please contact me/Glen/Barb there.

The Scottish Wildcat Tartan has now been registered by the Scottish Register of Tartans. Note that the SRT does not differentiate between one "brown" and another "brown". Brown is brown, yellow is yellow to them. Therefore the CAD picture on the link below does not reflect that actual thread colors that DC Dalgliesh will use in weaving the tartan.

We have taken orders for 90 yards. The ordering period for the initial run is closed. Paul Henry will likely serve as a distributor in the future and our US shop that is handling delivery of this run may opt to carry the tartan, as well.

We that opted to stay involved, are waiting for an appearance. Likened to sighting the Scottish Wildcat in its natural habitat, the "jonesing" is intoxication.

Congratulations, gentlemen, on getting as far as registration. I received notice of it today.
Now to see what Dalgliesh make of it!
    Keep on kilting!
    Regards,
    Mike

Alan, do you have actual shades samles from Dalgliesh or are you using their online resource? The latter is okay but nothing like the former. I have colour twists of their complete stock range. Let me know if I can help.

Glen worked through Barb to obtain thread samples from Dalgliesh. Glen chose threads that matched what we'd all preferred (known throughout the design contest as the grey "Jock Scot variant".)

What Ken just said..... McMurdo decided on Dalgliesh because we had thread samples from Locharron, House of Edgar and Dalgliesh. As the "art director" his call was to use the Dalgliesh colors.

Since I have two inquiries about purchasing the tartan in my mailroom, I need to reiterate that the purchasing period for the first run is over. It finished up on Dec. 31st. This was not discussed on XMTS so as to not run afoul of Rule 10, and as a matter of fact, no further conversation about purchasing tartan should really take place here. If you'd like to congratulate McMurdo on a superb design and express happiness in the ongoing success of producing the tartan, that's great.

What about future runs? I don't know for sure but I know that Paul Henry has agreed to be a UK distributor of the tartan. Exactly how he will handle it, I don't know. Pricing? I don't know. He has the capability to produce scarves from kilting tartan. What will they cost? Answer: contact Paul Henry.

Will there be a North American distributor? Maybe. Pricing in North America? I don't know. Will other kiltmakers be able to purchase this tartan from DC Dalgliesh or Scotweb? I don't know, but probably yes. How does this benefit the Cats? We can't talk about that on XMTS.

If you want to know more, you'll have to PM me, McMurdo or Barb Tewksbury.

Is there a colour-accurate image of the tartan you could post? I always have an artistic interest in these things.

Perhaps the 2nd post of this thread contained such an image? But on my screen it doesn't appear, just that tiny x-in-a-box.

And here, Barb did a study of the pleating options, of this design (along with the other two that were contenders, before this final version was selected.)
