Dalrymple tartan, who's interested?
I'm considering an order of Dalrymple of Castelton #2 tartan in Jura weight from Marton Mills. The minimum order is 11 meters, double width, at £39 per meter. I have an opportunity to get it for a lower price. Of course, I only want enough for myself to make just one kilt. I've contacted the relatives, hoping some of them might want to go in on an order with me. Might any of the rabble care for a length?
Dalrymple is not stocked by anyone that I can track down. It will always be a custom weave, so this could be your chance to get something rare at a decent price.
A designer at Marton Mills is putting together some color samples to send me. I'm asking for ancient and muted examples.
Here is a picture of he Dalgliesh version of Dalrymple in ancient colors. Dalgliesh wants an arm and a leg for bespoke single width tartan, and they sometimes have quality control issues. Marton Mills offers a much better deal.
