The Quaich's Journeys Through Japan
***UPDATE***
The Quest's Journeys through Japan are complete! The photos and logbook entry may be viewed beginning on Page 3 of this thread:
**UPDATE 2**
All the photos are now up! The photo essay begins on Page 5 of this thread.
The FULL, uncut, unabridged, photo collection is on my website HERE, but the majority of the pictures are re-posted in this thread, so you really aren't missing much unless you want to see them in a slideshow format.
Ladies and Gentlemen of XMTS:
I am pleased to report that as of this morning, April 1, 2011, the Quaich has safely completed its first transoceanic journey and arrived in Kofu, Yamanashi.
In an interesting turn of events, I am not the second recipient of the Quaich, but the third. It seems that the package was opened, inspected, and repacked carefully by the Japanese customs officials... (And they didn't even have the common decency to sign the logbook... ) LoL! No matter! The quest is on!
As I had a formal function to attend this afternoon, I was already kilted and formally attired for the occasion. I will also report that The Quaich has been toasted appropriately upon arrival. (we were prepared for the day)...
Given the DATE of the Quaich's arrival, I felt I should include photographic proof, lest someone believe they were the victims of some cruel April Fool's Day joke, and which should also satisfy the forum rules (pictures or it never happened) ..... Mind you, this is only a teaser to whet everyone's appetite for the many more piccies that will ensue... (Can't let the cat out of the bag just yet, ya know)!
Stay tuned.........

Great to see that it's got to you so quickly CDNSushi, and that looks to be some interesting whiskey you have to honor the quaich

Phew! Now I can turf the tracking number. When I delivered the Quaich to the post office, I was warned that mail to Japan might be very slow, even international express....so the delivery-on-time guarantee would not apply. I'm so glad Japan's postal infrastructure rose to the occasion and got "her" to your doorstep on time and safely. May she -- and you -- have a wonderful time visiting.

Brilliant news. Its great to learn that the Quaich has completed the inaugural crossing of the Pacific.

If not already thought of, and particularly in view of the location, may I respectfully suggest that one of the first toasts with the quaich be from everyone at X-Marks to the spirits and memory of those lost in the recent disaster.
