To Be Continued Part One:
Sometimes the best groups of people are a small group who you care about and can interact with easily. Such was our gathering last night, Dec 28, 2013. We have an open house to a select small group of friends allowing people a relaxed evening between the hectic craziness of the holidays. This time I was fortunate to be hosting the Quaich so I was able to expose my friends to the tradition. Jennifer and I had cooked good food and gathered good drink for everyone to enjoy. Home made tamales, real mincemeat pie(lamb being the meat), sticky toffee pudding, home made Kim Chi, home made goat feta cheese, home made saurkraut and a few store baught crackers, nuts and fruits. Good eats in my world and appreciated food adventures to my friends. Had some good red wines available, mulled wine, Founders Dirty Bastard Ale, Boulevard Brewing (a Missouri regional brewery) Nutcracker Ale, Jamesons, Courvoisier Congac and Lismore Scotch. So perhaps I have you drooling, we didnt go away hungry. One of our favorite couples and a gentleman I have mountaineered with for years showed up. Not a huge crowd but a good group of people. Those we invited who didnt show missed an good time, toooo bad for them. Below are some photos of the partaking of the Scotch from the Quiach. Everyone enjoyed hearing about it and where it comes from and where it goes from here. We also shared a large dram of Lismore (my Edradour has not showed at the store yet) together wishing us all good health, happiness and a good new year. Photos below.
Bruce, Kathy, Jennifer and Gordy after a good drink of Lismore.
Kathy and Jennifer watching as Gordy assures some good fortune with another dram.
After Bruce took a photo of his shoe with my phone he succeded getting this shot with me in it. Im in my Hamilton Grey kilt, slate blue kilt hose, tattersall shirt and a really cool houndstooth sweater I found on Ebay. We are all still laughing at the foot shot by Bruce.
You can see why I love Jennifer so much, she does enjoy Scotch. She blames that on me along with her aquired appreciation for good beer. I just figure she was having another dram for good fortune.
Round two of events will happen New Years Eve as I take the Quaich to Broadway Brewery and toast out the old year and toast in the new....
