It's Menagerie Week Here At Artificer Custom Sporrans
Either that or possibly the Island of Dr. Moreau
Two more pieces have rolled off the bench this week with wildly different materials, one aquatic in nature, one semi-aquatic, both rebags for existing cantles.
The aquatic-

A stingray rebag for an ex-MoD cantle which has been plated (most likely with nickel).
Tassels are 'barrel' or 'lantern' style with hand cut scallops. (Does anyone have an actual name for these?)
The semi-aquatic-

Muskrat on antique silver, with muskrat tassels.
The bag that came on this cantle when it was delivered to me was actually shearling sheep (which is a bit unususal)
but had a very nice sawtooth detail on the rear that I duplicated on the new version.
As delivered-

Rear Detail

In the end the cantle was lightly polished, but not buffed to a new 'mirror shine'.
Antiques should look like antiques, imo.
As always constructive commentary/critique are most welcome.

I especially like that second cantle. . .
Oh, and here's some inspiration should you want a true menagerie sporran. Be sure to watch through to the end!

Thanks all, it's been an odd few weeks in the shop with all the various materials, but it certainly beats repetition.

I like that second cantle as well. Goes beautifully with the brass chains, studs and hinge pins. Well done.
