My new MacMillan Kilt
Being a sept of this clan, this kilt has great meaning. We have always been told to pleat this tartan to "the blood" to commemorate the time when the son's of Maolan shed each other's blood during the uprisings when they found each other under different banners. It should be noted that this tartan is not recognized by the Chief, so this fable is something that is not general amongst MacMillans (Many in Georgia pleat it this way, thus the story is propegated-how romantic) This is an 8 yard PV made in the traditional style. I will give full details on it in a day or 2, but I'm not quite a paid advertiser yet, so enjoy the pictures of this fantastic kilt pleated to the"blood". I will be wearing tomorrow with full dress to honor the day. And yes, in the warm months, I wear no hose and sandals..Thats just me. (Sorry about the crappy photos-I dropped my camera and am having to use my little hackintosh mini computer's web cam)

Awesome looking kilt there, sir! Nicely done, and I'm now a fan of that sett!
...oh, and as a side note, I've been known to ditch the hose in summer, as well.

So, how is this pleated then? I have a hard time seeing from the pictures. It is not to the set, but I can not see a stripe either. I am very intrigued by this type of pleating.

This has always been a hard tartan for me to like. I had a green variant when I was a boy that my mother made that I hated! Its actually my brother who has resurged this MacMillan fancy! I'm now wondering why I never liked this unofficial tartan-Its actually quite nice.......

I am guessing the pics are mirrored.
I was getting scared there for a moment that the kilt had a left edge fringe...

I'm just wondering... You stated it is an eight yard PV made in a traditional style.
Does that mean that the internal construction is traditional: steeking, hair canvas etc?
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
