unBEARable Jones....Ended!
When Meinfs showed off his first Bear Tartan kilt, I knew I had to have one. So after many emails, and a silent Jones .... It's here!
It's a wonderful box pleat, and fits like a glove. I now see why box pleated kilts are so popular. Perfect weight for summer weather. Mein also knitted matching garters and even signed and numbered it.
And it arrived just in time for the North Texas Irish Fest! Guess which kilt I'll be wearing.
And now some preliminary pictures.
Matching straps and fringe:
Inside, outside and fringe:
Lots of box pleats:
And, like all good kiltmakers, it's signed and numbered. "Thomas 20 Mein"
My name, kilt number 20, and Mein's name (of course).
As I understand it, this is Bear Kilt #4 for Mein. You rock dude!
More pics of me wearing the kilt, after this weekend.

That is a good looking tartan!
Not to sound ignorant, but what is the bear clan?

Maybe Ted Crocker will come out of hibernation and post his index of threads on the subject.

As requested:
Bear tartan Web Site
beartartan.com
Bear tartan information at The Scottish Register of Tartans
http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar...s.aspx?ref=235
"Registration notes:
The eight-colour Bear tartan has been created to further promote identity and awareness of the International Bear Community. The composition of the colours
used for the multiple stripe is based on the Bear Brotherhood flag. ..."
And to be clear, the term, "Bear," refers to gay and bisexual gentlemen identifying with that community. There is an established XMTS social group for the Bear Tartan for Bears, LGBT and friends, or fans of the tartan.
Congratulations, Kiltboy. Swing your pleats with pride.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
