Another chance to get House of Cheviot Shetland and Orkney hose

    Hi to all,

I somehow never heard of the Shetland and Orkney styles of hose until Matt Newsome put up this post to clear out his last pairs

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...ds-ends-79974/

After emailing vendors everywhere trying to find any remaining stock (none!) I've been in touch with Matt and learned that while the House of Cheviot has discontinued these styles from their catalog, they will still make them as special orders, subject to a minimum of three pair for each size / color combination. The possibilities can be seen here:

    http://scottishkilthose.com/orkney_shetland.html

Cost turns out to be $80 per pair plus postage.

For myself, I'd like to get the Shetland in the Highfell, Scotspine and Autumn colors plus the Orkney in bison and tartan green, size large. If there is enough interest I'll be happy to coordinate a group purchase. This would be for orders from North America since it will be placed through Matt. If there turns out to be interest from other parts of the world I'm not sure at the moment how to handle it but no doubt we can find out.

If anyone else is interested, please reply with style, size, color and quantity.

At $80 a pair (plus postage) I would buy one pair each of Shetland Autumn Marl and Blue Lovat, both in size Large.

I hope we can meet the HofC minimum requirements to the extent that each of us can get at least one pair.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

If there is interest from other countries and it helps you get to your minimum, go ahead and take the orders. The ordering would all be going through me anyway, so it would be processed as a US order; I'd just need to ship them to their final destination.

Thanks for that, Matt. When I was posting this morning I realized that I had no idea how non-US orders could work.

If only I hadn't just busted a huge fistful of cash on something :cthulhusmiley: related I'd love a pair in Loden/Bracken green and one in Lovat Blue Marl.

I thought they were gorgeous when I saw Matt's pix, but even those pale in comparison to experiencing them in person.

Count me in for one pair of Shetland in Highfell Marl, size large. Let me know what we need to do for payment.

    Thanks,
    Brooke

Good question since I've never done this before. I imagine Paypal will work best but the only thing definite at this point is that I will be paying Matt for the whole order and then I'll be responsible for re-shipping to the rabble. I'll have to talk to Scott about how he handled the first R'lyeh tartan order.

If you will accept part of the payment for a sporran in the form of socks, maybe we can work something out...

Since Matt is already set up to process PayPal orders through New House Highland, and since he wrote, "I'd just need to ship them to their final destination" (though I think he was referring to non-US orders), why not let Matt ship them to everyone and charge each of us a "nuisance" fee?
