Has anyone seen this, from 5.11?
Was wondering if anyone has seen or owned one of these, from 5.11 Tactical...
Here's a video...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoX7ZqaNPOQ
And product info page...
http://www.511tactical.com/Tactical-Duty-Kilt.html
Overall, they look like Utilikilt knock-offs, but as I am a competition shooter, and we are coming up on season, I have been considering options for the pistol range. I have several of their slacks, shirts, and tactical vests that I wear (though I do prefer Woolrich gear better).
So does anyone have any experience with 5.11's kilt?

I just did a Google search for this kilt, and it appears that lots of folks out there believe that the ads are an April Fools Day prank. I hope not.

I saw a few of those posts myself, and it could be. Then again, if enough people sign up to be notified, perhaps they'd see enough market interest to make it a real product. If it sells, then "the joke" is on those who thought it a joke. Guess we'll know tomorrow.

Well, if it isn't a prank, then I say AWESOME! I live in my 5.11 tac pants (when I can't wear a kilt, of course) .
If it is a prank, then it certainly was an elaborate one. Slash pockets with reinforced edges? Who would possbily want to go to all that trouble just to post an April Fool joke?

As a long-time wearer of 5.11 clothing, I can with some certainty say this is a very good April Fools day stunt. I will also admit that I wished they would make a utility kilt.
I also competitively shoot, and would wear one of my kilts if it weren't for the true-waist of all my kilts... perhaps an x-kilt at jeans-waist is in order.

But the retail price is only $59.00. That is suspiciously low IMHO. Oh dear, the possibility of this being a hoax just increased...

Especially so with 5.11 gear. I have a friend that distributes for them, and their wholesale is extremely low - the markup on their items is quite steep. They always sell for MSRP on their site, as to not undercut the big sellers like LAPG.
I could make that TDK better with a hook-and-loop velcro "kilt pin" (I have quite a few MilSpec Monkey morale patches). Oh, and their "Tundra" color (kind of an ashy dark green) would be exactly what I would want *if* they decided to spawn an actual line from this prank (ala ThinkGeek).

Is there anything people won't rename a "tactical" something, stick on some webbing and sell for a premium?

If this is a prank, it's pretty well executed. They even got Scuffy Wallace in on it.
If I were going to build one of these, it'd have M.O.L.L.E webbing across the fell, and possibly more on the apron in place on d-rings. I like that the cargo pockets are big enough for full size AR mags, and the slant pockets look pretty good, too.
I am sort of wondering how well this would carry a concealed carry holster, though. I'm not quite shaped the same way as the guy in the YouTube video, and I might have a problem with the whole thing staying where I want it.
