Here's the proof
In a previous thread (http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...uestion-69153/) I had mentioned that I would be able to wear the kilt on Fridays "dress down". Well, finally had a camera with me:

No negative comments were heard (I was listening). One or two "what's the occasion" questions, One - it's better than Hawaiian Shirts!! But the best one came from my wife.... "now you need to get a UtiliKilt instead of the jeans". So needless to say, time to start shopping for a new kilt or two or three or.... (how many does Hamish have??)!!!

Lookin' sharp, I love the houndstooth!
And you know, it's the best pattern to not show dog hair, if that's an issue.
^that's precisely why I want a houndstooth sofa.
(I have a houndstooth cell phone case, stroller, handbag... )

Re: Here's the proof
I think if you look closely you will see that the OP's kilt is made up of the small black and white squares of Shepherd check tartan (also used in Burns heritage check and Scott of Buccleuch tartans), which from a distance looks very like houndstooth check but without the tooth shapes of the latter.

Nice casual look BLHS209.
I looked in your previous post but didn't see it asked so, is there a reason you can only wear it on casual Friday and not other days with appropriate shirt, tie, hose etc for the occasion? Just curious.

Brooke

Re: Here's the proof
looks nice lad!
I've worn a kilt to the office the occasional Friday when I worked in Calgary, Alberta. I always thought it interesting that I'd attract less attention than fellows in jeans, buckles and cowboy hats...
I'll second Brooke's question above though, can you not wear a kilt dressed up?

I grew up with all the sheep farmers in the border country. They were never as clean as you have on I can assure you that is a Scott Tartan. Wold I wear it? I am not sure but if and when I get enough cash I will be getting one. You look great in the kilt.

It is the Shepherd tartan (as worn by Lowland Scots and Northumbrian shepherds), Scott of Buccleuch is the same with narrow blue stripes, while Burns heritage check (in honour of Robert Burns) has the same Shepherd tartan check with thicker stripes in Hodden Gray (from A Man's A Man For A That), containing narrow stripes in dark green to represent Scotland's countryside.
