    Macleod of Harris pleating options

Okay I am getting close to pulling the trigger on my first tartan kilt. It will be a MacLeod of Harris pv 8yd. Sorry, no pics as I am on my droid and don't know how to post pics. A brief description of the tartan is a overall dark navy/green with two prominent alternating red and yellow stripes. Playing with a length of fabric I see many options of pleating.

No stripe for an overall dark look.
To the stripe with three variations.
    To the yellow
    To the red
To alternating red and yellow (probably my favorite)
No stripe has options as well
Pleat to "flash" either red or yellow
Pleat to "no color" by burying the stripe to preserve the dark tone
And last but not least the classic to the sett

    What say the rabble?

    You mean this one?

This is the ancient colors, but the same sett.
I like your idea of alternating red and yellow. I assume we're talking about a knife-pleat?

this is Smith Ancient, but it has a similar colour balance, and it is pleated to the alternate red and yellow, it might help give you anidea of how it looks

Yes, but in modern colors which tends to a more navy/olive that one looks more ancient/old colors. In modern and pv the red and yellow are the distinguishing colors.

That's the alternating I'm talking about. When I first folded the cloth to that pattern it just "popped".

So is that to much to wear around town on my butt or what?

I'm looking at SHO to create this kilt and at their prices I could entertain the idea of all seven options eventually.

Now if you throw in the kingussie option........
