A wider kilt belt would look better and lift the kilt higher so more knee is showing.
Otherwise looking good and I like the tartan.

yeah this is just my normal belt, but i do have wider ones i plan on wearing until i get a kilt belt., I'm a bit of a short guy so showing some more knee is a bit hard.

Congratulations on joining the ranks of the kilted. My son wore his first kilt for the first time last weekend at the Glasgow, KY Games. So, I can appreciate how excited you must be. Please post your experiences from attending your first games in a kilt.

Personally, I'd forgo the belt until you have a kilt belt. I don't even usually wear a kilt belt when I am out kilted. And if you wear the kilt a bit higher it will feel a little odd, but you will get used to it. In the end, it'll be more comfortable.
I do like that tartan. And that is a rocking beard!

I like that tartan, congrats on your Craigslist score! It will definitely look and feel better with some kilt accessories but you've got time. As it is a bit too long, you might consider having it hemmed

I foresee many more Kilts in your future, as this one looks very good on you.

The kilt looks great. A nice find on craigslist. Hike the kilt up a bit and you'll be fine. I've always liked that tartan. Congrats on your first kilt!

Congratulations!!!!
Before you know it, you'll have three!
I second the wider belt and hiking the kilt up a little. You can always make your own belt, I went to Tandy and bought some 1.75 latigo leather strap and a brass circle buckle to do mine. A hole punch and a couple chicago screw and your done.
Somebody ought to.
