    R'lyeh Sett: First Wearing

Apologies in advance: I know there was a specific thread for people to post pics of their kilts when they got 'em, and I did search for it. However, any possibly pertinent thread I then tried to open just got me a "Internal Server Error" message.

Anyhow. . .Mine arrived from Matt Newsome a couple of weeks or so ago, but tonight was my first wearing of it -- at the Saint Andrews Society monthly meeting.

I decided to keep with a fairly casual look: Loden green buttondown shirt and garter ties for a bit of a "seabottom mud" accent; charcoal Lewis hose & pullover wool sweater-vest; black leather Stillwater kilt-cut jacket; and black devilfish-skin sporran.

I had a similar problem a while back and discussed it with Steve in the Tech Forum. Finally realized that the browser doesn't like punctuation in URLs! So searching for anything that contains a punctuation mark will return results, but clicking the links gets you an error message because the browser won't read a URL with the apostrophe in it.

Another indication of the unimaginable evil inherent in these kilts. . .

    Oh, and looking good!

Nice! I like the casual look. I have a mossy brown sweater I wear with mine on occasion as well. (although not lately, it's almost 80*f here today!)

I agree with Ryan, the devilfish sporran does seem to be the way to go thus far!

I'm sure the great tentacled one is stirring, waking by measures as these kilts are delivered.

I was rather amused by the fact that I was hardly the sole kilt-wearer at the meeting, and some of those present were native Scots. Only WalkerK and the person who took the pics knew what tartan it was. Yet no one remarked on the kilt at all -- instead they were all oohing and ahing over the blackthorn walking stick.

Hmm... Now doesn't that sound interesting.

Haha- Funny how things work out, some times. Can't say that I blame them too much though, as it is quite a blackthorn.

    Great look Dale!

I do have to wonder if the opposite of this tartan is a Miskatonic University tartan?

    Cheers

Y'know, now that we have the R'lyeh Sett nailed down and perhaps even a variant run of it coming soon, I do think a Miskatonic U. sett would be a great thing.

Probably more difficult, though, compared to a merely "aquatic/transstellar" sett.

I am only vaguely aware of the significance of the sett and chatter surrounding it, because I haven't read any of the books. From a purely aesthetic point of view then, you look great Dale. The overall dark tone of your outfit is complemented perfectly by that stoutest of BLACKthorns, so the other members were right to coo over it. The more I see that Stillwater leather jacket, the more genius I think it is too
