    R'lyeh Tartan ORDERING Thread

Alright cultists, here's where we start to tally totals for our second run.

The tartan is the R'lyeh Sett in it's "original" colours (or as close as custom dyeing will allow us to get) from DC Dalgliesh in their K1 Heavyweight wool (15oz) with a natural kilting selvedge.

as photographed by our own Matt Newsome from the last run-

from the thread HERE, which also includes some lovely pleating examples for people to mull over.

Obviously the width (single vs double) will be dependent on the final quantity ordered, but most likely it will be double width again,
last time the price came out to around £21/yd (currently $32US) before shipping/local taxes, but I'm guessing we'll be a bit more expensive with Dalgliesh being under new ownership.

If we can keep the off-topic chatter elsewhere that would be most helpful
, these threads can get somewhat long and involved and I'd hate to miss someone's request or miscalculate yardage and
    have someone get shorted.

If you missed this tartan last time and are still kicking yourself, now's the time to order. Managing these orders takes up rather a lot of time, so the next conceivable occasion we might order again (if ever) would
be a few years down the road.

What I need in your reply is your XMarks handle and the number of total yards you need (in single width).

This thread will be open until July 7th at which point I will hopefully be submitting the order to Dalgliesh. Stragglers will most likely be out of luck, and quite possibly eaten by Shoggoths.
The after-order scrabbling for last order's yardage goes on to this day and is known to have driven a handful of people quite mad.

    May We Be Eaten First!

Is the previous price stated based on single or double width? Sorry if this seems obvious to others but you're asking for our new requirements in SW and I'd just like to make sure (having had to back out of original run due to a temporary shortage of funds. . .)

According the the last price list I have from Dalgliesh if we get +60ydSW/30ydDW our price should be ~£22yd for double width (so, in effect, £11yd single width)
which plays out pretty close to last time when we paid ~£21/yd .

It pays to order in volume.
Of course if we don't get the volume necessary we may have to pay for the custom dyeing, which we most definitely DIDN'T last time.
The good thing is that I still have the thread samples from the first run, as well as a swatch that's been packed away for just such an occasion so we can hopefully get the same sett size.

Scott, thanks again for shepherding this undertaking.

I'm in for at least 5 yards SW. If I can do 8 will update my response accordingly by July 7.

A question about logistics - I missed the last order but if I recall correctly, peoples' yardage was individually shipped from D.C. Dalgliesh, is that correct? In other words, individuals will be responsible for the cost of overseas shipping and any tariffs that might be incurred.

    You're most welcome-

Yes, you're correct. We had the order split at Dalgliesh and shipped from there. Any other way will most likely result in MULTIPLE tariffs, as it would have to come to the US (tax+shipping) and then be cut and shipped again (certainly more shipping, in many cases more tax). We essentially had enough yardage that Dalgliesh treated it as a 'stock' tartan for us in how they serviced it. I'm hoping we can do it that way again, even though it seriously strained their shipping department.

I'd like to order 9 yards (assuming double width) -- that would allow me to make one full length, 9-yd tank (I'm chubby) and a 6-yd box-pleated lighter-weight one, and have enough left over for a fly plaid or (better yet!) a bias-made vest. MWA HA HA HA!! <ahem>

Let me know where and when to write the check!

    Current Total (In DW Yardage)

    Cable Scot - 4

    SorenMacTavish - 3

    usonian - 2.5 (4?)

    sydnie7 - 4

    AJBryant - 9 yards

    Running Total = 22.5yd dw

Less than 12 hrs and we've nearly met our minimum for ordering dw!
I'm still hashing out how much I need, but I'll probably shoot for 4-5 yards, depending on whether or not the minion will be getting a R'lyeh tartan kilt before he's done growing.
