Thanks Big Mikey! Hose topper reward
A month or two ago Big Mikey debuted his new web page selling his Hose Toppers and a variety of t-shirts. At that time he posted a thread asking for forum members to review and comment on the site and its functionality, which I among many others, did, although I must admit my suggestions were not of great significance in the grand scheme of things. Well, it seem Mikey had offered a set of custom hose toppers to the winner of a drawing from all names who posted to his "help my website" thread, adn I was the lucky winner. Mikey made up a wonderful hefty set of hose toppers to match my new Kingussie style Ancient Caledonia Kilt from Keltoi (patience, patience my friends, a review and pics are forthcoming). I got the kilt a few weeks ago, and the hose toppers last week. Well here they are, and a nice match indeed. They are shown over a pair of House of Cheviot Lewis hose in their "cinnamon" color that I had ordered in anticipation of them matching the kilt, and they actually look good with the hose toppers too, IMHO.

Thanks Mikey!! I will wear them with pride at every opportunity.

Those are indeed very nice. And I hope giving them away is good for Big Mikey too -- it certainly got me to look at his site, and I'm considering some of those myself now.

I think the pattern looks good, as is the color match, but can they be made of a lighter weight yarn so as not to look quite so bulky? They seem to stand out a little too much from the calf, which detracts from the look.
Please take this as a suggestion for possible future improvment and not as a negative, as that is the spirit it is offered in.

Joe, your suggestion is taken in the friendly manner it is offered.
I have tried lighter weight yarns but they just didn't have the look I wanted.
I also noticed that many members wanted a thick turnover in their hose. The Original Hose Toppers achieve that look.
I have made one pair in lighter yarn at the specific request of one member. After he had a chance to wear and review (he also got a pair as they are normally made) he recommended the heavier yarn.
Thank you for your comments on the pattern and colour match. I design the patterns and choose the colours based on actual tartans. The Original Hose Toppers are not meant to be an exact match but rather complimentary. They can also be made to contrast, whatever the customer likes.
