Wedding Preparations
As a number of you may have already read elsewhere,
coughherecough
I'm soon to be married.
I'm just about done making what I can, and the time has come to assess what my wedding planner, aka "Mother dearest" has organised.
So I thought I would show off and brag a little, and allow the thread to descend into light hearted banter regarding many off topic subjects unrelated to the original matter.
Jokes aside - I'm yet to make it to full dress yet, only tried individual items, but photos of such will soon be available as demanded on the above linked thread.
For now, we have some images of the attire:
I shall be wearing this combination, the Sgian dubh, buckle and pin are my own creations.
Further details about them at the link at the start of this post.
As I am ex mil - we chose the black watch tartan, due to both cost and availability.
But as it also turns out, there is some family connection as well.
however, I can't speak of this from the top of my head - I'll need to consult the family monarch, whom has been researching this for many years.
Tartans to represent all the attending and related heritage.
some were quite difficult to source I'm told, especially the All Ireland Green, which we had custom made.
Left to right
- All Ireland Green (For the bride)
- Fife (For the bride's family - closes we could afford to get to County Kerry)
- Ross Red (My maternal side)
- Ross Hunting
- Ross Ancient
- Fraser Hunting (My Materal Grandmother's)
- Scrimgeour (My Paternal side)
- Drummond (My paternal Grandmother's side)
- Dunbar (Sister in law's)
- Tara Murphy (My paternal side) Also ancient marriage between Irish Tara and Scottish Ross – just for interest
- All Ireland Green
Below is more of my handywork - this will be going to the piper along with his choice of fine whiskey.
Also - the Sgian Dubh's for myself and my brother (best man)
also my work
Sash and kilt pins - and a close up of the Sgian Dubh as well (all my work)
I hope to have some "less braggy" images fairly soon.
got alot going on, and some financial challenges to meet to keep the lovely lass in the country, but looking good soon.
With the luck of the draw from our celebrant - we will be wed on St Andrews day of all days.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.
Nice work on the kit pieces. All should appreciate them, and even more so since they were custom hand made for the purpose.

You are most welcome.
As for the peices - glad you like them, I tend to be highly critical of my own work at times.

You and your lovely bride will no doubt look just smashing on your nuptuals. Many, many felicitations to you both. You've done a great job on the metal work. You have lots to get braggy about!

Nice photos but in my opinion I think you would look better if pulled your kilt up an inch or two. In cases like this it is difficult to state your opinion without upsetting people. That was honestly NOT my intention.
Good luck on the day.

I'm not easily offended. Had been thinking something similar myself actually

Dress rehearsal yesterday.
Though the bride is in a traditional white dress for photographic reasons.
the photos of the real one will have to wait until after the day.
not long to go now.
