    What hat with a PC?

Ok seriously now, this is a real question. What kind of hat would go with a PC? I guess most anything if worn outside under a trench coat, but if worn with just the PC what would work and the all important question PICS?

I ask because CDNsushi turned me on to a E-bay store from Pakistan where i was able to snag a new PC for a nice price. I expect to be wearing it in upcoming weddings. But since I am follicley challenged(bald), I must needs wear a hat.

Folically Challenged or not, a hat should not be worn with a PC IMHO, especially if you are indoors, a gentleman under most every circumstance takes his hat off when indoors.

I would think that outside anything would do with an overcoat, but with the PC proper/indoors, nothing at all.

I'm of the opinion that if you are indoors, no matter what you are wearing, no cover is worn.

Generally speaking you should wear a balmoral bonnet (glengarry bonnets (like white socks) are universally regarded as part of a band uniform). Any other form of hat-- Stetson, homburg, trilby, bowler, tin foil pyramid, etc.-- would be wholly inappropriate.

As stated elsewhere in this thread the hat is only worn outdoors, never inside.

Well, I think an Irish Flat Cap.

Seriously, with a PC I would not wear ANY cover in-doors. Outside I might wear a Balmoral if I were wearing an overcoat or cape. If it's an outside day event and you need something to keep the sun off then.....er....you should not be in a PC.

Outdoors was assumed, only heathens and the unschooled would wear a hat indoors. In New Mexico our weather is often pleasant till this time of year, my question was more to the point of type of outdoor head gear when wearing only the PC, with out an overcoat. With makes no difference, without would be rather strange I think to wear a fedora.

When I was in the Army we wore our dress hats with the X-uniform, which was very much like the PC. I was wondering if there was a civilian equal or equivalent.

Damn there goes my collection of aluminum foil pirates hats!

Glengarry of Balmoral is optional if outdoors, but nothing beats a good hair cut.
