It's a hobby of mine. Depends on the type of dog determins the length of time it takes, generally longer haired dogs take longer than short haired. All in all it takes me about 12-15 hours to do an 8"x10".

Here are a few others I've done in the past....
another wife's coworkers dogs
my neighbors Bulldog "Toby"
and my favorite "Non-Dog" drawing of Balmoral Castle, this one took over 50 hours of drawing time.
