The Jones, part 1
Well I just got an e-mail from my sister to say that the Pride of New Zealand tartan cloth will ship tomorrow and should be with me in about three weeks.
So the jonesing begins. Then I have to find the cash to commission a box pleat from Matt Newsome. That will be the Jones, part 2.
For those not familiar with the Pride of New Zealand tartan, here's a link: http://www.tartansofnz.com/index.php...---the-ledgend

Awesome! I look forward to working with that tartan, it will be my first time. Did you get a heavy weight wool?

That should make for a good looking kilt. Will you be pleating to the white stripe? I trust it is from the finest NZ wool.

Don't know how to convert. It's 230 grams/square meter.

Assuming 60 inches wide, and forgive a bit of rounding
60/39"/meter ~ 1.6 m x 230 g/m = 354 g/linear meter
354 g/linear m / 454 g/lb ~0.78 lb x 16oz / lb ~12.5 oz. Allowing for my rounding errors figure 13 oz. cloth.
whew - ya gotta love dimensional analysis.
