Greenville, SC games 2007
Greater Greenville Scottish Games and Highland Festival, June 8-9 2007
Xmarks rabble meets at the Scottish Tartans Museum tent. Thanks to Matt, Ronan, and the gang for their hospitality and treasures.
MacWage (Carolina tartan), fluter (Wallace), JBfromBS (Bruce), Tartan Hiker (Carolina), Barclay (Maple Leaf) and friend Marc Sifuentes (New York City), davidlpope (Ulster), M.A.C. Newsome (Carolina) and colleague Ronan MacGregor (Black MacGregor).
Later in the day I saw Steeplechase, Peter C. and brandycr. Who else was there?

Fluter, Piper Al and Corey the fiddler are good friends of mine and Corey occasionally comes to our kilt nights (SOKS). So how come you got one of their new shirts before I even got to see one? Hunting McLeod put on a good show I hope you enjoyed.

fluter,
What an impressve gathering of X Markers! I have found that all the members of X Marks the Scot to be grand folk when met in person. Sounds like a very good day.I hope that Hunting Mcleod and Albannach come out West sometime. I have heard nothing but great reviews of their music and would love to see them.
Cheers

Luck of the draw, I guess. They seem to have picked up the shirts as they left town, but the new CD is not yet ready. So those of us waiting on mail-order can be jealous of you lot.

They put on a terrific show, but they were feeling the heat. We did not have the heart to tell them that Friday evening was mild by our standards.

Hope you had a chance to pick up either of their first two CD's.

They do get hot even in the dead of winter up here and often have to slip outside in the -25C night just to try and cool off.

Hunting McLeod opened:
Their music mixes pipes and fiddle with an electric "power trio" for some Celtic-style
rockin'.
The guitarist and violinist will occasionally hop in unison to the beat, and get
their pleats swinging rhythmically.
Later the piper got into the act (but he doesn't hop)

HM must have hustled out of Greenville right after the show on Friday, because they spent the rest of tthe weekend at the Blairsville Georgia games and gave a concert saturday night. I totally concur on their show - great entertainers. They have been at Blairsville since the games started there in 2004 and have quite the following.
Their new drummer is 16 (yes sixteen) years old and MAN! can he play! They did one song where he went into a solo and the rest left the stage for a break. He's a wild man, and can he twirl and toss those sticks!
I bought both CD's, but didn't order the third yet.

I'll wager you didn't see Jacquie out in the sun, any more than was absolutely necessary.
