I have had a few pints of heavy at Deacon Brodie's. Good pub.
Great pics. Makes me think I should try and make the Tattoo one of these days.

Thanks for the pics and the idea of what to see when I make it out that way next year!

Thanks Cessna. I am very jealous. There's nothing like Edinburgh during the Festival. I did notice the darkening skies, however, so that's some consolation here in relatively Sunny California.
Best regards,
Jake

Alex, fascinating photos - it seems only yesterday I was there myself, but it is now just over a year ago. I have never made it during the Festival unfortunately.
By the way, the 'Heritage of Scotland' and 'The Scottish Experience' shops are both part of the somewhat notorious Gold Brothers empire, and should be included in the tourist-trap threads we have had here in the past! I have been into those shops and talked with the staff - I would never buy from them. The 'Pride of Scotland' shop on Princes Street is not quite as bad when it comes to quality, but I would never recommend it to anyone!
Fair enough, they are not as 'colourful' or as bazzaar-like, but the Hector Russell and especially the 21st Century/Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd shops - also on The Royal Mile - are THE places for reliable and authentic kilts and accessories.

Great pics. Thanks for the tour. One of these days, my wife and I will have to get over there.
And Ham, thanks for the information on those shops. It's always great to have someone who's been there make a commment on them.
