Questions about kilts from Frugal Corner

While we are waiting for Shriner and others to give us a review of the kilts from the Frugal Corner, I would like to ask Mark some questions about his kilts:

1) The 13 oz. kilt is a 4-5 yard kilt made of 13 oz. material, correct?

2) The 16 oz. kilt is a 7-8 yard kilt made of 16 oz. material, correct?

3) How many straps and buckles are provided on each type of kilt?

4) Are the pleats sewn down at the hip on each type of kilt?

5) Is the front apron tapered (wider at the bottom than at the top) on each type of kilt?

6) Is the bottom edge hemmed or does it have a traditional selvedge?

7) Is there a lining inside the kilt at the waist?

8) Are there belt loops on the kilt? If so, how tall are the loops?

Bill, take a look at Mark's earlier posts. I think he has answered several of the questions. He has said his kilts are made by the same maker in Pakistan that makes SWKs, so You should be able to assume a similar qualiy and construction. One of the nice things Mark offers is the ability to order a kilt to your measurements, rather than having to take whatever hip to waist ratio comes standard.

If they are made like SWK, then the right side of the apron w/b tapered and the left side won't be. This is the thing that most drives me crazy about SWKs because it would be SO easy to taper both sides and that would reduce the trademark SWK first pleat curl.

lol.... I also have one on order. Seems to be that nobody really has a LOT to say about their stuff (although people keep asking), as there was so much negativity and critism at first (on here, and on other message boards), before everyone put their orders in.

Now that all of that mess is over, we're all just waiting to get our stuff!

One of the reasons I placed my order with them is because of the very calm, polite, cool headed way Mark handled all of the critisims about quality, origin, and pricing of his wares. I'm a value-minded shopper, but knowing the integrity of the person you're buying from makes it that much better!

I will try to answer as much as I can here.

MATERIAL-
The 13 oz kilts are about 4.2+- yards (I did a quick tape measure test
The 16 oz are about 6.8+-
(Of course this depends on the waist size large kilts require more material)

BUCKLES AND STRAPS
we have a 13 oz with 3 buckles and a few with 2 (we are dropping the 2 buckle vendor so only have a few left)
All the 16 oz have 3 buckles

PLEATS ON HIP
16 oz are sewn down on the hips, the 13 oz are not

APRON
it appears to me that the aprons are not tapered

LINING
The 16 oz have linings, the 13 oz ??? I will have to check but I think they do but are a smaller lining then the 16 oz.

BELT LOOPS
There are 2 or 3 belt loops. don ask me why some have 2 some have 3. they are 2 7/8 opening

As I mentioned before we deal with 3 vendors in pakistan and have started to look at china for some wool/poly wool/poly/viscose poly/viscose blends for material. We did deal with 4 vendors but one (who will remain nameless) took our order for 70 plus kilts in december and to date we have received 1 kilt. We just started getting our own tag inside the kilts - I suppose the story has been told and it is true that we received a few kilts that had another vendors name in them.

our plans as it stands now is to do 28 weekend games next year starting in January in Florida 08 and running through November 08

We have shawls, fly plaids, sgian dhu, chanters, some very poorly made kilt hose we have been giving away (we are trying to get a better vendor),belts, buckles, flashes, Ghillie shirts..incoming soon, headwear, and we can get formal jackets made to order.

Custom kilts - We have been ordering a minimum of 150 kilts every month since december so it is very easy when we place an order to request the weaver make it to a certain size...yes it cost us a few dollars more and we charge a few dollars more..but lets face it not everybody is a 24 drop. the largest we have made is a 26 the shortest an 18 (I never ask questions)
Did I forget to mention we also sell LOW COST Bagpipes!!!

Also we are going to run the WRITE AND ADVERTISEMENT FOR EBAY and win a custom kilt until mid June.. then we will post the top three ads and let Xmark members vote on the best one.

We are growing and we are going to grow and be successful because we are going to provide excellent service, with affordable products, and offer services that others do not want to offer or can not offer. When we screw up we are going to make things right. A couple of my favorite quotes from ebay customers-

2. Best customer service I've seen anywhere, in or out of eBay! Beautiful kilt!

Customer service really means something when you screw up. When things are going perfect everybody loves you...it is when the post office loses a package, or you forget to ship something, or your supplier ships 15 days late when you have to shine and make sure the customer gets their kilt for the wedding, festival, or prom!

Sometimes you have to overnight a kilt pay the $47 yourself to make sure a customer is happy.

Of course i am still waiting for the first really bad ebay comment - it has to happen sooner or later

If you are coming to Florida in 2008 let me Know. I will see about getting the Egypt Shriners Highlanders Pipe and Drum Band to come play at your tent. Also if you need a place to store a trailer between events, I can help.
