I think I'm going to make a tentacle sgian brew in the same style that I made my kilt pin. And I'll probably make a new kilt pin too, if I'm being honest.
Should I go for complementary or contrasting colours?

I'd say complimentary colours myself.

Very fun commercial. Love it when the pitchman stumbles around his desk to no apparent purpose!
As for articles related to the Jonesing. . . I've got a piece of ray skin stashed away, and a black leather jacket to be repurposed due to large L-shaped tear in a front panel. Been thinking about sporran designs. . . laugh if you will, but it helps me get to sleep at night! Designing and sewing sporrans in my head takes the mind off more mundane, "real" life related issues that would otherwise keep me tossing and turning.
Been thinking lately about cutting a Celtic design into the black leather, with the ray showing through from underneath. Not sure if I can find (or would use) a themed design, or just a nice open knotwork sort of look. One larger central area for whatever you call that white mark on the ray and smaller areas with just the black-on-black. Lots of detailed sewing involved there, thinking I might have to do it by machine.
Comments, suggestions, take my idea and run with it all welcome!

I want to be the first (and probably only) highland dancer in the R'lyeh sett. My plan is to ensure that my competitors will be eaten leaving me with the win.
It'll work, right?

I am feeling strangely calm about the wait. I've been slowly but steadily losing some weight, and it may be a while yet before I decide I'm skinny enough to commit to making a new kilt. (Heck, I never finished the Harris Tweed box pleated kilt I was working on, which would be about 4 inches too large around the waist now... I will probably rip out the pleats and start that one over again.)

I'm cool with the wait,my new stingray sporran will do nicely I think but it's the kilt pin that has me vexed. I'm looking for one that is sinister but not gaudy.

Well if you're "pro-going mad via tentacled horror" there is this one-
If you're trying to fend off the forces of insanity, etc you could go this way-
I've got a few small plans in the works for what I'll eventually make as my kilt pin for the R'lyeh sett, but nothing to reveal before all is prepared.

Am eyeballing a nice carved bone handle with skulls and octopi for a handle to a sgian dubh...am hoping the price will drop a little and then I will swoop in for the kill. As to kilt pin...I found this one on etsy:
now to figure out a sporran.
[COLOR=#0000cd][I]I'm only off-kilter when my kilt is off.
