My first: black neo-traditional Utilikilt. I was inspired by Patrick Norton on Screen Savers. I liked the look, the price was reasonable, and I wasn't into tartan at the time.

Many kilts since then. I started out collecting contemporaries, but gradually introduced traditional tartans. Now the kilts are about 50/50 contemporary/traditional.

16 oz 8 yard Bruce tartan. It's now too big for me, so it is now in the possesion of my father. (To be returned home if for some reason I happen to gain about 4 inches of waist size!!!!)

    first kilt...

A surplus Royal Highland Regiment (Black Watch) of Canada kilt, made by a firm in Glasgow, that I used for reenacting. I sold it to one of my professors in university who still has it and wears it on occasion to our Scottish society's functions.

My first was a Black Watch Economy Kilt from Celtic Croft. I bought it for Tartan Day 2005 and got it because it was fairly inexpensive and I could get it fairly quickly.

Black Stewart USAK semi-traditional. I wanted the look and feel of a heavyweight traditional, but couldn't afford it. Gotta keep saving my pennies!

The first kilt I ever ordered was a casual kilt in the Macneil of Barra modern tartan from Clansman Knitwear (I won't go into the fiasco which that became). I'll only say that I ordered two other kilts, One from ScottishKilts.net and an old style Sportkilt, which both arrived before the first one I ordered. The first that I actually wore was the old style Sportkilt in the Blackwatch tartan. I ordered the first because I was taken in by tyhe spiel the vendor gave me at a Highland games, the second because I thought I was never going to get the first, and the last, The Sportkilt because it was cheap, and I was able to get it before I went to another Celtic festival. In fact, I'm wearing the old Sportkilt as I write this. I use it for yard work and arround the house.

Gray Mocker Utilikilt, ordered on Burn's Night of this year. Recieved about a month or so after (while I was joining X-Marks the Scot , right after making my first post).

    Cheers
