Tartan I.D

I've been trying to I.D this tartan with no luck. I've tried unsucessfully to find it using the tartan finder at house of Tartan. It's on a militery kilt made by Thomas Gordan and Sons. It's one I've seen before and can't remember the name.

I'll bite, is it Hunting Stweart?

The Stewart Hunting is a military tartan, being worn by the Royal Scots Regiment and the Canadian Scottish. I would venture to say that since it is a kilt, it is probably from the latter, since the RS wear trews in Stewart Hunting -- although a Territorial Battalion, the 9th Royal Scots, known as the "Dandy Ninth" did wear kilts in the First World War.

Just speculation -- but it is Stewart Hunting.

Here's another question for the experts. This is a military kilt,it has 4 buttons spaced evenly along the back above the pleats. There are 2 in front at the apron corners. What are they for? My other 2 kilts don't have them.
