    Tartan I.D

I've been trying to I.D this tartan with no luck. I've tried unsucessfully to find it using the tartan finder at house of Tartan. It's on a militery kilt made by Thomas Gordan and Sons. It's one I've seen before and can't remember the name.
My apologies for the large pic,I've resized it twice.

    Stewart Hunting...

The Stewart Hunting is a military tartan, being worn by the Royal Scots Regiment and the Canadian Scottish. I would venture to say that since it is a kilt, it is probably from the latter, since the RS wear trews in Stewart Hunting -- although a Territorial Battalion, the 9th Royal Scots, known as the "Dandy Ninth" did wear kilts in the First World War.

Just speculation -- but it is Stewart Hunting.

Here's another question for the experts. This is a military kilt,it has 4 buttons spaced evenly along the back above the pleats. There are 2 in front at the apron corners. What are they for? My other 2 kilts don't have them.

Thanks for the quick answer. This one of those tartans I've seen dozens of times and when the name comes up I draw a blank and can't find a pic anywhere.

Perhaps they're prototypes for modesty snaps...

Heres a pic with the buttons in question. Any ideas on what they're for?
IT has two more in front at the apron corners.
