These pics have been posted elsewhere on the forum, but since the situation calls for it, I will add to the fun.
A slightly older picture of me looking rather mean and sunburned
Another pic of me at an event this past summer.....in my own defense, I admit that I had arranged the top half of my belted plaide rather haphazardly, but trust me, the pleats looked fine, even though you can't see them :-)
One time, some jerk rudely explained to me that I didn't know how to properly wrap up a great kilt. (please refer to picture #2)
So, I figured that the best way to tell that jerk to go pound sand, was to invest the help of my friend Patrick (he had never worn a bp before) who was kind enough to model my kilt pleating abilities with a newly acquired length of tartan.
Ahh.........A jaunt into a small redneck logging town to obtain provisions- bread, potatoes sausage and beer......ahh.....the perfect rations to keep a young strapping Highland soldier in good spirits. Please note the period correctness of my watch and glasses!
Thanks for looking!
Iain

This first pic is when I was a moustachioed piper with the Reddshanks back in the Dark Ages:
This is a pic of me with a Buchanan buddy after I had piped at a library exhibition on Tartan Day. Yes, I played my pipes at a library and the Universe almost burst into flames.

I can't seem to figure out how to post an image so my avitar will have to do if it shows up. This is my 15th century warrior character. The photo was from the 2007 Stone Mountain HG's

I've been intrigued by these garments for a while, and when invited along to the AZ Renaissance Fair I decided to try and "recreate" my 7th-great-grandfather as I imagine him.
So...got a terrific deal on four yards of brownish non-clan plaid, thick wool blend for $5 a yard.
My Bonnie Sweetheart helped pleat it.
I then performed the dignified ritual known as "Scottish Burrito"
Fortunately, I already made a Rob Roy style sporran, and I purchased an early styled dirk, and the knotwork on those matches.
Here's a view showing the pleats
Back view showing the stripe
I always wanted to look like a McIan print
Now I can !
Or here's how the belted plaid looks with more modern, semi-formal attire
My wife thinks I'm wearing this because boys always want to be super heroes and if you arrange the back up on one side it looks like a cape.
Anyway, for a minimum of expense and effort this is a neat garment.

I'm getting a little better (and faster) at belting on my plaid
I took these to show off the new targe I made (I guess I could post more pictures of it in the DIY forum)
Cheers
