Sweater Vest Tucked In or Not?
i'm sorry if this has been covered before. i've searched threads and seen just a couple of pictures of sweater vests both tucked in and worn loose.
when trying on a new sweater vest last night, it clearly looked better tucked in to belted kilt than it did hanging loose over the bulk of a) small belly b) kilt bulk c) belt buckle.
any definitive directive? sweater is forest green over white button up dress shirt worn to correspond with the green in my ferguson modern.
thanks in advance.

Sweater vests are never worn tucked in, be it a pair of pants or a kilt.
It will look better out if you skip the belt (which is true of any vest)

If wearing trousers I always wear the sweater outside, but with a kilt I often tuck the sweater inside the kilt as I think it looks much smarter.
Its all a matter of personal taste, inside or outside is equally correct.
If you tuck the sweater inside though, you do need to allow for the added thickness, by being able to loosen the buckle straps, and belt if worn, by a notch to allow for the extra girth.

As usual, I'd have to agree with Jamie. Don't tuck it in, and skip the belt.

I would have to agree with Jamie as well. Sweaters (of any variety) should remain untucked in my opinion, regardless of the garment worn on the lower half.

I wear my sweaters un-tucked when wearing the kilt. Somehow, to my eyes, it looks all wrong with the sweater tucked in

It would have to be an awfully thin sweater if you tuck in in. I always wear mine out. No belt.

Actually there is one outfit that requires that the sweater vest be worn tucked in to the pants (to show off the braces)
