Turpin travels to San Francisco
The rain finally stopped, giving us excellent weather for a night out. Turpin, Monkey@Arms (Jake), the Amazing Madalyn & I met in the lobby of the Palace Hotel
Across the street for a quick one at the House of Shields.
Dinner at Eddie Rickenbacker's
The owner's collection of motorcycles, toy trains, and Tiffany lamps.

Another look at the saloon.
One lady couldn't help herself - she had to ask "The Question."
Finally at Kate O'Briens. So many bottles - where to start?
By the end of the evening, our attempt at a Hamish Mk-II was highly impaired and we had to hang on to each other for support.

great pics...I love those bikes!
as for where to start on the whisky..I say start on the left, and work your way down the line until you either fall over, get kick out, or empty them all!

I really enjoyed meeting Kent, Jake, and Madalyn. They were great companions for an excellent night in SFCA. Eddie Rickenbacker's is really amazing with those cycles on the ceiling. A 1941 Indian and one given to Clark Gable for his work in Gone With The Wind stood out for me, but there were at least 20 others. Amazing prices on their food too, for San Francisco. I went the next night for seconds.
Anyone coming thru Atlanta, please let us know. We certainly want to show you all as good a time as I've had in my travels.

Thanks for posting the pics, Kent, and special thanks to Madalyn for taking them. It was great night, and it was wonderful to meet another member of our far-flung fraternity. Turpin, I hope your travels bring you back to town again, and I will surely look you up if we are ever out your way.
Best regards,
Jake

The world as it should be.
I have my own Isle of Skye now, but I still tear up to see pics of it. Such a beautiful kilt!!

I'm sorry I couldn't make it up to be with you fine folks.
It looks like a good time was had by all.
I'm very curious as to the gray kilt that Monkey@Arms is wearing. Fess up Jake and tell us the details.
Cheers

Ever the keen observer, Panache. (By the way did you notice all three of us were wearing x-marks pins?) Not much to tell, I purchased this kilt from fellow forumite Gary. Its a Moto Menswear brand 70% wool/30% poly casual kilt that he purchased from H&M in Ireland.
I was quite happy to receive it the mail the very afternoon of our meeting with Turpin, and found it to be a decent fit and well constructed. I've done a bunch of Google searches but haven't been able to find anything meaningful about the manufacturer. Can't figure out if they are still in business, and if so, whether they still make casual kilts.
Anyway, its taken the edge off my kilt jonesing for a week or two.
Best regards,
Jake
