Funny how they have him in a Great kilt and blue face paint, and the reason they give as to why he took on the English all come from the movie, not history. Kilts were not worn in William Wallace's time. He would have been dressed more like a knight that a highlander.

    spoilers!

    you've been warned.

Wallace's 63% to Zulu's 37% out of 1000 battles. 100% confidence from both sides I thought it was going to be closer, guess the blue paint tipped the scales. Didn't notice much of a Kilt, did see the leggings.

i've enjoyed these since the first episode a few weeks ago. the premise is ludicrous, but i like the enthusiasm of the experts representing each side of the debate. last week's maori v shao-lin monk was terrific.

although, the dramatized video of wallace had him running down hillsides in a kilt, the highlands expert was discussing the likely mode of battle dress more along the lines of what mcmurdo was stating. nice one.

the show has taken a bit of a sour turn in the last couple of weeks when they've pitted "mafia" against the yakuza and the preview for next week's show just made my heart sink- taliban v ira? a bit too sad.

i guess this exposes me as no small hypocrite. it's ok to watch a bunch of guys on tv examine and glorify killing as long as it's in the context of centuries-extinct warrior classes such as samurai and vikings, but as soon as they start whooping it up over post-modern ideological terrorists, i get sheepish...

We watched it--the step-son and I--but it was a bit contrived. The results are quite subjective, and the whole idea is kind of hokie at best.

But it's fun for what it's intended to be--entertainment. Seeing the character in breachan feile and woad (sp?) was a bit of a put-off--I kept trying to be historically correct--but ole Wallace kicked the snot out of Shaka Zulu.

The best part was seeing the weapons described and demonstrated.

I'd have to agree, my biggest pet peeve with this episode besides the woad and feileadh-mor was the height of the actor playing Wallace, but yeah it was cool seeing him win. I loved the part where the "experts" were calling the 8' kill zone the buzz saw of death.
