    Winter hats?

Okay, if this has been asked before I cannot find the thread. But with our "Indian Summer" here in my corner of the world skipping fall temps & going straight into chilly winter temps, I have to ask: what does everybody like to wear for winter hats when out & about?

    Last winter I wore this:

I think this winter I will be wearing either my Deerstalker or my blue Balmoral.

I second the Balmoral. Also, McMurdo, boots might be a good idea. Your shoes are caked with snow.

Winter is still a long ways off for us, but I wear either the Balmoral or a black Tam. Also our winters are quite mild, just enough cold to remind us that spring will be coming.

YUP, It is getting to be that time of the year, here in the PNW.

For the "chilly days, I wear either a wool "bamoral" ( full size ( 11"diam) NOT the normal "off the shelf" size") or a "newsboy style ("full cut")

CHECK OUT THIS SITE of our own DIANE. I have 2 of the "jacobites" on order from her, for the "chilly & cold days. http://russetlodgeknits.blogspot.com/search/label/tams

For the "cold" days, I wear my FULL SIZE TAM (13 1/2" diam) This tam can be pulled dowm over my ears.
Often I wear it with my "blanket shirt" or my "capote" ( TREWS - YES)

Here is one I would "love" to have

Although this hat is not "scottish" It is GREAT for cold weather.

Is that the " FULL SIZE TAM (13 1/2" diam)" you're wearing? I have another spec for 14" and was just confirming that it was correct.

DWFII, My reference to the size of this tam, was NOT meant to "set the "standard" IMHO a full size Tam, is one that is LARGER than what is often sold as a TOS ( the "Gov. Issue ( current issue) that I have is 11"

    IMHO, 14" would be GREAT.

The reason I asked was that I was discussing this with a fellow who dresses quite Jacobite and he had a blue bonnet that was 14" across. So my wife is making me one and felting it and I just wanted to see what it looked like relative to a head...yours in this case.

I'm not intending to get that deep into Jacobite clothing, but I do have the buckle shoes I make/made for myself and I sort of fancied a blue bonnet with a white rosette and a sprig of boxwood.
