Working Kilted at Walmart
There have been a few threads about kilts and Walmart. Here’s the first “working kilted at Walmart”. I work part time in the Sporting Goods Department at one here in the Fredericksburg area.
This week I’ve been kilted at my full time job as preparation of my kilted vacation in Scotland. So, this evening going to my second job I went in kilted wearing the required company colors. Dark blue shirt and tan/kaki ‘trousers’, but I wore my kaki Buzz Kidder cotton canvas kilt. I followed the philosophy; it is easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. So as the Nike commercials says, “just do it!”
It went well. The female associates were affirming and the male associates, wondered what I was up to. I think that may have been jealous. No comments from management. I was under the radar as I just went about doing my job. A number of smiles from the female customers were given. A couple of inquires about being Scottish that lead to interesting conversations.

Ready to take your money.

Great shots I wish the employees at my local walmart dressed like that, I'm the only kilted in there whenever I go down.

When I worked for Wally World, I would have killed to wear a kilt to work but being a stocker in the Electronic department overnite can not be very easy to be kilted.

I think people expect a guy in a kilt to look ridiculous or start a fight or pull a set of pipes out from under the counter. You look really sharp and very professional. The fact that you didn't make a big deal out of it and just went about your work probably persuaded others to realize it's not such a big deal.
And anytime you get smiles from the ladies, well, how can that be a bad thing?
Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

Great job. I went kilted for the first time to work last summer. I created a scottish themed game for our department all-hands. I wore the kilt with HR and the center manager present. I asked HR if there were any issues with wearing a kilt to work and they said "no". Later guys started asking "if he can wear a kilt, why can't we wear shorts?" and a number of women stated that I was dressed more professionally than all of them in jeans. Keep on Kiltin'!!

Excellent. The khaki kilt blends in well as part of the uniform look. This is a great look.
