    Any experience with jhiggins.net

Have any of you bought a kilt from jhiggins.net? Their price on an 8 hard kilt looks very reasonable and there would be no worries about customs duties since they are located near Kansas City.

    Thanks

No kilts made by them, but everything else has been impeccable. And I hear good things about their kilts.

I would buy one from them.

    Thanks for the quick responses.

I had used the search function before, but I think I searched for jhiggins instead of just higgins by itself.

My Forrester modern kilt and two Argyll jackets and waistcoats are from them, along with the majority of my original dress kit. Easy to deal with, good communications, quality product. And, as you noted, if you are buying more than a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff from them at one time you really do save about 15-18% by not having to pay the customs. I am a very satisfied customer.

You're going to be hard pressed to find someone who badmouths Higgins.

Prices are reasonable, and delivery time is nearly Stillwateresque.

I would also point out that a few months back, I ordered the wrong bagpipe bag cover from them. I e-mailed, asking how to proceed to do an exchange. They told me what to do to return the wrong one and said they were going to go ahead and send the correct one without charging my account. I probably got my replacement before they got the original back.

Not necessarily "badmouthing", but I ordered two kilts from Higgins, one in 1998 and one in 2000; the first kilt I ordered was of much better construction than the second, and my best friend experienced the same thing with his two kilts from Higgins.

In general, though, Higgins is a good place for the kilted newbie to start.

I shopped around quite a bit, then ordered my Duncan Modern tank from them. The quality and cost were excellent.
