Bottle Green Argyll jacket. yes or no?
I have a black one already with a waistcoat for evening wear.
I am thinking more daywear sorts of things. I think it would work with the clan green and clan monochrome kilts I already have ~~ though I am uncertain about with clan red in the future. Should work OK with my Black Watch PV.
Price is right.
At last count I had seven colors of hose, three sporrans and six or seven ties, I think I can pull it together
Whaddya think?

I love the look of the non-black argyll jackets personally, and have considered navy and bottle green ones myself. As I would likely wear them more as daywear I would probably swap out the silver/chrome buttons, however, for something a little more appropriate for daywear, like horn buttons typical of tweed jackets or maybe brass buttons such as seen on a lot of blazer-style jackets. All depends on your anticipated uses.

Yup, not black and not navy blue.
I am a little concerned about bottle green jacket and clan green kilt but I think I can do it without looking like a string bean. Pink hose. yellow shirt. that kind of stuff.

Not as elegant as Jamie and it was a Christmas party:

It works for me.

Might not work too well with the Scott Ancient Green but should look good with the modern.
A bottle green jacket should pick up the green stripe in the Red Scott modern very well. The outfit just might look a bit Christmas-y.
I think it would look smashing with the Scott Hunting.

Three different posts, three different shades of green!
Mael's appears to be the true Archer Green, the colour of doublets in the Army. Archer Green can be mistaken for black indoors or at night as it is an extremely dark green, around what I think of as British Racing Green.
Jamie's kilt appears to be around what some would call Tartan Green, that is, the dark green used in tartans (Modern Colours). His jacket appears to be somewhat darker.
Then there's Chas' jacket which appears to be what we in the US would call Kelly Green. (Think of the kit of Glasgow Celtic.)
I bring this up because there's a pipe band here who used to wear dark green Argyll jackets. All were purchased from the same tailor in Scotland. Trouble was, no two jackets were exactly the same colour! The range of colour seen in that band covered the three shades of green above, and everything in between. This band's appearance always brought to my mind the Irish song "Forty Shades of Green".
In any case I wore an Archer Green Argyll jacket for quite a few years and loved it. It seemed to add that little bit of extra class that you don't get from black. Actually my kit at that time was nearly as monochromatic as Jamie's, as I wore that jacket with a Black Watch kilt and dark green hose. Oh my! Matchy-matchy to the extreme! But at that time I was enamoured of the kit of the pipers of The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.
BTW my 1936 William Anderson & Son catalogue, in its illustration of "the Coatee" (what we call a "Prince Charlie"), depicts two men, one wearing a dark blue PC and one a dark green one. No black.
The man in the dark green PC is strikingly dressed, with a red & green tartan kilt and matching waistcoat, lace jabot, and diced hose.
So here are a couple photos showing the military Archer Green.
First, the PM of The Highlanders. One would think the jacket black.

And the PM of The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, later the Queen's piper, Jim Motherwell

And PM Andrew MacLeod. In this photo the jacket is clearly green, but in fact it's the same colour as the two above.

My jacket is a woollen barathea by Geoffrey (Tailor) with quite lovely antiqued buttons. It is though, rather bright. I have often thought of having it dyed darker - more forest or Brunswick green.

Ok, lets try again. Internet is pretty flaky in our area just now...completely dropped out just as I hit the submit...
Rather like the idea and may look at getting a green Argylle to go with my MacLeod regalia - only have Harris Ancient kilt at the moment, but...
Martin.
