Branded Kilts
I work for a group of conventions here on Long Island. The staff is by and large all friends. I do press for the conventions and I book our Showrunner on a Outlander podcast as our new convention Long Island Geek (LongIslandGeek.com) has Graham McTavish as a guest. He admitted to the host that he would have to get a kilt for thee convention because of Graham. Well I took that to heart and another friend and I got together and went out and bought him one after getting yet another friend to measure all of us in various places on our bodies for an unexplained surprise. Well we got a basic black and surprised him at a con we all attended. He loved it and was stunned by the gift. The next day after wearing it all night at the party he wanted to get another but wants to get our logo put on it. What is your opinion of the idea of getting our (LongIslandDoctorWho.com) logo on it? Is it tacky? Is it acceptable? I don't want to stifle a new kilt wearer so soon after he got the bug.

I say go for it, Rocky puts his logo on his casual kilts. Find the right tartan or solid color that goes with it and plop it right on it.

I don't see many logos on kilts except, say, on Utilikilt pockets, or on SportKilts.
(Edit: oh yeah, USAKilts' casuals, too)
I won't venture to answer where others will have a more accurate understanding of opinions on traditional highland dress, but I'll at least say that I think logos and emblems emblazoned onto the exterior of a kilt kind of look a bit tacky, and I think it detracts from what is otherwise a beautiful garment to have a visible label on it.
That said, it might be nifty to have some kind of kilt pin with the logo you want to show off...

One great benefit of a kilt is that you can dress it up or dress it down. By putting a logo on it you are restricting your options. You could for instance wear it to a wedding or a funeral, but it is unlikely it would be appropriate to have a logo on it. It is just my personal opinion but I would put the logo on a polo, T-shirt or jacket, or all 3, it will be much more visible that way.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Ah. We already do those shirts jackets etc. This would be primarily at parties at other conventions. I myself am not worried as I already have 5 other kilts that would not be branded. At cons the kilts get noticed a bit more.

AndreT ,
Perhaps you could create a Logo patch that could be pinned to a kilt for special events and removed for normal wear . This would allow you to advertise without limiting the use of any particular kilt .
Something like a Clan Crest patch that can be pinned to a shirt or jacket and removed when desired .

Just a thought .

Or commission having a custom kilt pin made. If you know someone who can create a 1:1 model you would save the model making fee.
Much like I did to create the X Marks Cap Badge.
The original, I hand made from Fimo clay.

And the first run of production cap badges.
