Buying a prince charlie online?
So i'm looking into buying a princecharlie jacket. I have to usual options for buying locally which would assure me prety good quality. Two local stores quoted me $525 to $550 another $325 I had one store quote $500 for an ex-rental Lochcarron!( I dont care if it was hand crafted by Tiny Tim! $500 for a used jacket is a rip off! These people were supposed tobe friends!). On E-bay scottishtartanstore is selling them for $165 for a 15oz black barathea with all the usual goodies and says that this is a top quality product and not budget in any way.
Here is my question: Has anyone here ever bought or heard of anyone buying a jacket through this company?

I think there's been one review of another eBay bargain PC from Geoffrey Made for Scottish. I purchased a sporran from them and was well pleased, others have had varying experiences but they are a long-time vendor with high ratings.

Andrew
I bought my PC online I can not remember exactly what it cost, however I did have to pay quite a bit of duties and shipping on it when it arrived. Here is my review on it from way back when I got it.

I'd say from the price you are looking at a budget jacket, sometimes you do get what you pay for.

Thanks, I think I may save my shillings and go with Keltoi, he seems like a good guy to buy from

Hi Andrew,
My Prince Charlies are made by Gaelic Themes/Vernon Tailors. With your XMarks discount and then taxes (groan) the price would about $380-$400, depending on chest size.

Presumably you already have a dress Argyll jacket which can do double duty, but would now like something a tad more dressy. Might I suggest that you save up a few more pennies and consider the purchase of a regulation doublet, instead? It makes a distinctive change from the ubiquitous "Prince Charlie" coatee.

I don't ask this question to be argumentative...moreso to understand. Aren't regulation doublets a military coat? I guess I don't see how or why they would be worn as formal attire and by civilians? Can someone please explain this? I'm new...so please be kind.

You're actually thinking of a regimental doublet which are worn by military members and pipers alike. This is a regulation doublet.
