Cruise wear?
On 12 October, the wife and I fly to Fort Lauderdale, to go on a two week East to West Panama Cruise. I am going kilted.
Here’s the question. How many kilts do I need for two weeks on a cruise ship?
Formal nights – Tank and Fly Plaid, PC, etc
Casual nights - Casual kilt(s), golf shirt
Dressy nights – Casual kilt(s), shirt, tartan tie, jacket.
Shore excursions – Casual kilt(s) - weather/activity dependent
Deck lounging – Really casual kilt(s)
I’m thinking of five kilts, and all from the green hues, to limit the number accessories and thereby the number of bags.
Cream hose and tartan flashes.
Or maybe one red hue kilt just for variety?

Five is probably a good number that you can rotate throughout the cruise. It's also good to limit the color schemes, for the very reason you mention.

Everything you have suggested sounds fine, except the cream hose, I can not stress enough how much I dislike the look of cream hose with a P.C. Argyle etc. to me it screams rental, I never wear mine anymore, the only reason I have them at all is that I had to rent a Prince Charlie for my brothers wedding and the do not rent the hose so we had to buy them.
I hope you have a great time on the cruise, my parents just got back from a cruise and they are ready to sail off again, I know you will get loads of pictures, again have a great time.

Emphasis mine-
McMurdo - your point is taken. I will definitely throw in many more hose color choices – and I would never think (although this is a relatively recent switch) of wearing white or cream hose with the PC. I now wear black hose with evening wear! I just think it looks better, regardless of what the tartan police or books may say.
-But your own hose color prejudice is limiting your own clothing options. If you eliminate the cream hose from your sock drawer, your entire wardrobe becomes darker. You lose the ability to pull out the light color stripe from your kilt to add highlights.
For you, cream hose scream rental. Surely, by now, you wear the kilt in a manner that no one would think that you went out and rented it for a costume party or wedding?
But! - Cream hose can have their place! For instance - If I am dressed casually, with a cream colored golf shirt, the cream hose can look right. If the tartan choice of the day is predominately dark greens, I would not wear it with green hose and green shirt. Too dark!
But like I said – Point taken – take more color choices! I think I will take the following: 2-green, 2 blue, 1 dark red, 2 black, and 1 cream - - - better?
Oh, and matching tartan flashes for each kilt, and solid red and green too.
Thanks!

Oatmeal hose! They give the lightening effect but--to my eye---look better than cream.

Oatmeal? Now that I look at my hose, maybe I don't own any cream?
Isn't oatmeal just dark cream? I used to have some white, but I dyed them.
Without a color wheel, I don't know if I have cream or oatmeal.........?

Yes Oatmeal hose those are what I wear to lighten or pick up on the light accents, I have a few pair of them, as they are in the rotation frequently, here is an example of what I mean:

Well, forget everything that I said, cause I guess I was talking about oatmeal and not cream..... I use oatmeal, sort-of like I used to use jeans - goes with anything!
