Earth Tone kilt hose in the heat
Hello. I need to figure out what kilt hose I'm going to wear to the Scottish Festival this year. It's probably going to be just shy of 100* outside that weekend, so I'd rather not wear wool.
The kilt I'll be wearing will be my new, not-yet-made Olive Drab Green RevK. I'll have my WPG brown day sporran, a tan web belt with brass buckle, and brown shoes. My brown shoes are kind of a faded or antiqued brown, so I don't think brown hose would look very nice.
I originally was going to wear my new WPG kilt hose, which are tan, with a slight tint of green. I've come to my senses though - they're 100% wool and
very thick.
I found some nice cotton hose, but they're only available in cream, red and black. I already own the cream ones, but I don't really like cream hose.
Any ideas anybody?

My idea would be to wear sandals with no hose. However, if you want to wear hose, a lightweight cotton athletic sock might be your best bet, in a khaki color.

Not a big sandal guy.
I did think about looking around for athletic socks. I'll see what I can find.

Buy these... http://www.thescotlandkiltcompany.co...one-p-832.html.
They're 80% wool and look great. How are they so cheap? They're not very thick. Hence they're not as hot. See, being cheap can have its advantages.

That was my first thought, too. If you're not a sandal guy- as I am not- then just shoes and regular socks! Or http://www.kilts-n-stuff.com/Highlan...ear/boots.html would work, too. I have a pair and I love them! I wear them camping and hiking, to festivals, on vacation- pretty much everywhere except to work. And they're nice and cool, too, so your feet won't roast. Or you can get the ankle lenght version.

We have dry heat here... I hadn't thought of that. Maybe the ankle boots would be best. My wife has a pair and she loves them as muvh as I love my calf high ones.

For what it's worth--since the traditional Scottish look is not my main goal--in the hot, steamy summers we get here, if not wearing sandals, then I'm fine with standard ankle socks.

I found these. Sock Dreams
Somebody posted some of their crazier styles a while back and I remembered seeing some that actually looked pretty nice. If you click on the "Hunter" color, they even have a picture of a man in a kilt and boots.
I went ahead and ordered some tan ones. 8.00$ plus free first class shipping isn't too shabby. I'll post a review when I get them. Hopefully they're tall enough for my skinny legs.
