Help!
Hi all, I'm getting married this June and myself and my groomsmen will all be wearing kilts. I already own one as do two of the groomsmen and the rest will be renting whatever tartan they find appealing. Here's where I need the help, I have several uncles who would also like to wear kilts for the wedding but because they are proud MacDougalls and Mitchells, they won't settle for MacDonald or Black Watch and the other kilts you can rent anywhere. Anyone know how I could get my hands on a few rental kilts in these seemingly hard to find tartans?

How many of each one and in what size? I ran across a few, one here, another there, while hunting for a rental myself, and could index the list and see.

Sizes I'm not too sure about as I haven't gotten them to do the measurements. But since they wear pants in sizes about 40 they are on the larger side but too large. It's hard to ballpark the rest of the key measurements but I will try and find out and post back when I do.
I know I will need 2 MacDougalls and 1 Mitchell.

Groomsmen don't typically wear their own tartans. They wear a tartan to match each other, ideally the same to match the groom. There are plenty of universal tartans other than the ones you listed that look great without looking like 'i rented a black watch'.

Thanks George but this is for my uncles, not groomsmen, since they aren't going to be in the wedding they wanted to wear the kilt simply as their formal duds. Since I'm renting the kilts for my groomsmen as well I was just trying to see if I could help my uncles by doin a little extra leg work. It has just been proving to be very difficult leg work.

You might try this place in Colorado Springs. I don't know if any of the tartans they have would work for your uncles but, they do have other than Black Watch.

Rocky at USA Kilts carries the Galbraith tartan in PV
I believe (double check though on the exact tartan) that the Galbraith and Mitchel (and one of the Hunter tartans) are all the same.
I think Rocky at USA Kilts has a quantity discount of some sort for Pipe bands (i.e. a number of people buying the exact same kilt)
It might be worth looking into and then at the end everyone would have their own kilt!
The Celtic Croft have a rental deal for all highland formal wear with or without the kilt
Worth checking into.

A second option,
If the Uncles want to wear kilts but will not wear a tartan other than their own, how about some of the veruy affordable Stillwater Solid colors?
Cheers
