Help a mom for kilt purchase !

Hi! I stumbled across this site while on a desperate hunt for kilts for my boys. They have a short list of requets and kilts are at the top. I am looking for something not too expensive (under $300) since they are both growing like weeds and we'll likely need to upgrade anyway soon. One wears a men's 32 pant and the other is a boys 10. And it needs to be in the Gunn tartan since that is the clan of my husbands family many generations back.

Any place I should be looking in order to have something here in time for Christmas? Measuring is also tough for keeping it a surprise!

Any specific direction for this helpless mom is appreciated!

Your main problem seems to be the very short time till Christmas.

May I suggest you take a look at the offerings of one of our Forum Advertisers, Stillwater Kilts.
Their add may be found on the panel on the right side of this page.

You can measure pants that you know fit them well to get their actual waist size. Just lay them flat, measure the top and double it. Never go by the pants size, since even the "add 4 inches" rule-of-thumb isn't always accurate, especially with smaller sizes.

    I would look here

    http://www.kilts4less.com/ex-hire/8-...hire-kilt.html

I recently purchased a jacket and waistcoat from them for my nephew's wedding, it came from Scotland to Canada in 3 days and they were wonderful. Customer service and quality was top shelf.

Sport kilt stocks that tartan and they start off fairly affordable.

I would check out USA Kilts. They have PV kilts that can be made in the Gunn tartan in both their casual and semi traditional lines that fit well within your budget.
click on their logo in the top left hand corner.

Don't forget a sporran! You can go quality there, as they aren't outgrown. I made the mistake of buying cheap sporrans for my lads - they were stiff and didn't look good. If they wear glasses I would suggest a Rob Roy style - more room to put a glasses case in with a wallet.

What type/color do you recommend? No glasses to take into consideration...

Maybe something along these lines, I prefer the Loch Ness one, as for color, hard to go wrong with black!
