Highland Morning Dress Equivalent
Dear All,
I am contemplating a wedding in the future and quite like the idea of a daytime wedding. But since I have neither the time to make or the money to buy morning dress or a black lounge suit I thought to ask the Rabble what the highland equivalents of these two dress codes were.
Any advice, warnings, jokes, recommendations, etc. will be appreciated.
Many thanks,
Karl

Both threads that Shaun cited are all you need (you might require someone to marry). The rest is up to you. Good luck on the future.

Thanks all!
I found this in my size but I can't quite tell if it's a nice old jacket or just rental quality. Do more experienced eyes have an opinion on it?

For morning dress to be done properly, then I would avoid the jacket advertised. The Black Barathea Silver Buttoned Argyle(BBSBA) usually with waistcoat and drop down tie is the traditional morning dress attire for kilted Highlanders.

Take a look at the 1 kilt 10 looks thread. I wear my Montrose Doublet as the White Tie look & think it may be a bit much for the event you describe.

I agree that this Montrose doublet would be over the top for the event in question, whilst also agreeing that it's a very nice jacket for the price, and from a reputable maker. The only caveat would be that the seller is not providing much in the way of size information. They only list it as "medium", which is absolutely useless. If considering this purchase, definitely ask for measurements!

Pay close attention to this bit of advice. The Montrose that I bought 20 years or so back is a top quality, made is Scotland doublet that seems to have "shrunk" considerably over the years. I guess I really ought to sell it since it doesn't look like my plans to lose weight are working out.
It's about a 48L, and I am not about a 52L! Ha
But, darn, it looks good with the jabot and lace at the cuffs, especially when I wear it with a breache faile and a fur sporran for evening wear.

Jock's advice accepted, though I have worn a matching grey jacket and waistcoat for ceremonial events (morning dress) during the day. High quality sporran, highly shone shoes, dark hose.
